Box Score 3 ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Notre Dame volleyball, field hockey, and soccer traveled to Cedar Crest College for Colonial States Athletic Conference action. Volleyball was the first team to compete at noon, followed by field hockey at 2:00 p.m., and then soccer at 4:00 p.m.
In volleyball's match up against the Falcons, the Gators started off solid securing a first set victory, 25-11. Cedar Crest came back strong taking the second set, 27-25 and kept their momentum rolling, handing Notre Dame a fourth set loss, 25-17. The Gators rebounded in the fourth set, 25-23, forcing a fifth set. Despite the hard-fought match, the Gators fell just short dropping the match, 15-13. Three Gators posted double-figures kills, led by freshman
Sarah Sweet with 19 followed by sophomore
Kayleigh Davis and freshman
Michaila Sheedy with 18 and 10, respectively. In the set Sweet paced the team in aces with five followed by Davis and senior
Jamie Reyes with three apiece. Reyes posted 50 assists in the match, her second match this season with 50 assists. On the defensive end, the team tallied 72 digs and was led by sophomore
Mary Marquez with 28. Sheedy had two block solos and two assists. The Gators return to action next week as they travel to Wilson on Wednesday, then host Cabrini on senior day Thursday.
Following the volleyball match, the next team to face the Cedar Crest was the Notre Dame field hockey team. The Gators held the Falcons to two late first half goals, but eventually fell, 8-0. CCC posted 35 shots in the game, keeping the Notre Dame defense busy. In goal for the Gators, freshman
Calenna Cauley tallied 21 saves. That is her fourth game this season posted 21+ saves in a game. Notre Dame also had four defensive saves with
Jessica Wells,
Michaela Seay,
Kayla Becker, and
Megan Morales posting one apiece. Morales had the team's only shot in the first half. The Gators will wrap their season on the road at Cabrini University next Wednesday.
In the final game of the day, the NDMU soccer team took on the Falcons. The Gators jumped on the offense early posting two shots in the in the first four minutes of play, but after Cedar Crest's first shot attempt in the 10-minute mark, they would take a 1-0 lead. An even game through the rest of the first half, both team would have significant looks at the goal. Goalie
Loren Pardoe posted five saves in the first half. The even play continued into the second half. Both team would register shots on goal until the 60
th minute when Cedar Crest tallied their second goal of the game. The Falcons would tag on one more goal before the end of the game, the Gators eventually falling, 3-0. Junior
Meghan Conner lead the team in shots with four followed by
Morghan McQuaige and
Adrianna Fletcherwith one apiece. Pardoe finished the game with 11 saves. The Gators will close out their season next week as they host Goucher College and Neumann University.
