Box Score CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – Notre Dame soccer traveled to Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Clarks Summit University Saturday afternoon. The Gators jumped out to an early lead, scoring in the first four minutes of play and didn't let up. Notre Dame secured their first conference win of the season, defeating the Defenders, 9-1.
The Gators were led by junior
Meghan Conner who scored all of Notre Dame's five first-half goals. She finished the game with seven, for a Notre Dame school record. Freshman
Morghan McQuaige and junior
Lilly Gordon added one goal apiece in the win. The team tallied 24 shots and had a team season high, four assists. In her first career game, freshman
Adrianna Fletcher posted two assists, while McQuaige and senior
Raeden McCullough tallied one apiece. In goal for the Gators, sophomore
Loren Pardoe recorded five saves.
Notre Dame first got on the board in the first four minutes of play. Conner chipped the ball over the goalie for her first score of the half. After the Defenders held the Gators scoreless for the next nine minutes, the team capitalized on a fast break. After the CSU goal was pulled out of the goal, McCullough dished the ball off to Conner for an easy score. Notre Dame now up 2-0 in the 12
th minute. Just after the 20
th minute, Conner again found the goal after a denied McQuaige shot attempt. After two more scores by Conner to close the first half, the Gators would hold a 5-0 lead over the Defenders going into halftime.
Conner scored two more to close out the game. McQuaige posted her fourth goal of the season, while Gordon scored her first career goal for Notre Dame.
The win today moves the Gators to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in conference play. They will next host CSAC opponent Cabrini University on Wednesday next week.
