Soccer Drops Close Game to Defenders, 5-4

CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – Notre Dame soccer traveled to Clarks Summit University for their fourth Colonial States Athletic Conference match up this season. 

To open the game, the Gators got off to a slow start allowing the Defenders to put up two early score within the first five minutes of play. 

Notre Dame held Clarks Summit scoreless through the next 13 minutes before posting their first score in the 18th minute. 

Senior Meghan Conner got the Gators on the board first, scoring her team-leading 11th goal of the season.

Less than five minutes later, freshman Julie Hagis scored again for the Gators to tie the game at two apiece. 

Notre Dame held CSU scoreless to close out the half.

The Gators took a 3-2 lead over the Defenders early in the second half as freshman Gina Alfano posted her first career goal. 

Just over three minutes later, Clarks Summit would even the score at three apiece.

The tie did not last long as Conner posted her second goal of the game in the 54th minute to take a 4-3 lead. 

Unfortunately, Notre Dame could not hold onto the lead as Clarks Summit posted two goals to close out the game.

The Gators fall to 0-4 in conference play with four CSAC games remaining this season. 

In her first game of the season in goal, junior Loren Pardoe recorded six saves.

Conner led the Gators posting 11 of the team's 17 shots in the game.  She currently leads the CSAC in shots per game and is second in goals.

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Gators travel to Centenary University Saturday afternoon, continuing their conference schedule.
