Green Leads With 13, Gators Fall at UMBC

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Notre Dame basketball team traveled to local opponent, University of Maryland, Baltimore County Friday evening in a non-conference match up.  Facing the NCAA Division I Retrievers, the Gators held tough, but a slow third quarter let UMBC pull away.  The Gators would eventually fall, 81-43.

Newcommer Jaya Green led the Gators posting 13 points, going 5-for-7 from the floor and 2-for-2 from the three-point line.  Green also tallied a block and a rebound.

Sophomore Adrianna Fletcher and freshman Vanessa Dunn both finished with nine points, with all points coming from beyond the arc.  The Gators posted eight three-pointers against the Retrievers.

A slow day from the field, the Gators shot 31% from the floor.  Eight of the team's 16 field goals came from three-point range.

On the defensive end, the Gators posted 21 defensive rebounds and four steals.  Fletcher and Dunn both recorded five rebounds.  Fletcher, senior Justine Mudiay, freshmen Camille Becker and Jennifer Onoh each tallied a steal against UMBC.

The Gators tallied nine assists, led by Becker with three and Mudiay with two.  Mudiay and Becker combined for five points.
