Volleyball Scores 3-0 Victory at WAU

BALTIMORE, Md. — Notre Dame volleyball continued their undefeated season today, traveling to local opponent Washington Adventist University.  The Gators move to 8-0 after besting the Shock, 3-0.

Sophomore Sarah Sweet paced the team in kills, racking up to 13 on 23 attempts for a .435 hitting percentage.

Currently leading the CSAC in hitting percentage, Michaila Sheedy went 7-for-7 against WAU.  So far this season, Sheedy is hitting .446 with today's match being her first of the season hitting 1.000.  Prior to today's match, her best match of the season was against Lincoln University where she hit .667 (7K-1E-9A).

The Gators finished the match with 30 kills, with Sweet and Sheedy combining for 20.

Freshman Alyssa Kerns hit .500 against the Shock, posting three kills on six attempts.  She led the team in blocks with three solos.  She currently leads the CSAC in solo blocks this season with 13.

On the defensive end, Notre Dame had 32 digs against WAU, with senior Ricelle Taganas and junior Mary Marquez combining for 17.  

Junior Sara Few tallied 24 assists, while also adding two kills and two digs.  

On the service line, the Gators posted 14 aces.  This is now their sixth-consecutive match recording 10 or more team aces.  Sweet, Marquez, and freshman Emma Jordan each had three aces apiece, while freshman Angel Carino lead the team with four.  

Notre Dame has 124 services aces this season, first in the CSAC and fourth in the nation.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Notre Dame will have one day off before returning to play, hosting Gwynedd Mercy University on Friday and then traveling to Penn State Berks for a trimatch.  They will also face Penn State Abington.
