Volleyball Moves to 3-0 in CSAC, Best CSU 3-1

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Notre Dame volleyball team hosted Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Clarks Summit University.  The Gators played tough against the Defenders, but dropped the first set 26-24.  Notre Dame charged back, taking the next three sets, 25-9, 25-17, 25-11.

The Gators racked up an impressive 61 kills against the Defenders, their highest kill effort this season.  Seven different players contributed in the Gator offense.

Sophomore Sarah Sweet led the team, posting a season-high 19 kills.  She hit .366 for the match, her sixth match this season hitting for over .300.  Sweet had a double-double in the match, also posting 15 digs.

Sophomore Michaila Sheedy added 12 kills, also posting a season-high.  This is her third game this season with double-digit kills.  She hit for .476, second best in the match right behind junior Sara Few who tallied a perfect three kills on three attempts. 

Junior Kayleigh Davis tied her second best kill effort this season, totaling 10.  She also was a team leader in digs against CSU, posting a season-high 20. 

From the service line, Notre Dame posted 14 aces, continuing their double-figure ace streak to three.  Thirteen of their 17 games this season, the Gators have posted 10 or more aces.

Senior Ricelle Taganas, Davis, and junior Mary Marquez each posted three aces.  Few and freshman Emma Jordan each had two and Sweet had one. 

On defense, the team had five blocks.  Freshman Alyssa Kerns had two solos and Davis and Sheedy had two assists. 

Notre Dame had 70 team digs, their fourth game this season with 70 or more.  Marquez finished with 18 and Taganas had seven. 

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Gators will have the rest of the weekend off and will return home on Tuesday against St. Mary's College of Maryland.
