Volleyball Sweeps PSU Mont Alto

BALTIMORE, Md. – Notre Dame volleyball posted a non-conference victory over Penn State Mont Alto in their first meeting of the season.  The Gators scored a tough 3-0 victory over the Nittany Lions to move to 4-0 this season.

The Gator offense was led by sophomore Sarah Sweet and junior Kayleigh Davis who combined for over half of the team's kills against the Nittany Lions.

Sweet tallied her first double digit kill effort, posting 13 with a .273 hitting percentage.  Davis finished the match with seven kills.

Sophomore Michaila Sheedy paced the team in hitting percentage (.333) recording four kills in only nine attempts.  Freshman Alyssa Kerns also had four kills in the match, while adding one block solo and one assist.

Feeding the offense, junior Sara Few registered 16 assists, while senior Ricelle Taganas finished with 11.

On defense, the Gators kept the ball in play, recording 39 digs against the Nittany Lions.  Junior Mary Marquez led the team with 22 digs.

Continuing their trend this season, the Gators were back by strong serving, picking up 16 services aces and one from at least six different players.  Sweet paced the team with five aces, while freshman Emma Jordan tallied four.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Notre Dame will host local rival, Goucher College tomorrow at home for a 7:00 p.m. start time.  The will then see the next two days off before hitting the road for a trimatch at Christendom College.
