BALTIMORE, Md. – Notre Dame volleyball went back-to-back this week, securing their second win in two nights. The Gators hosted local rival, Goucher College Wednesday night, posting a 3-1 victory over the Gophers.
A competitive match on the offensive and defensive ends, both teams registered more than 115 attacks and 50 team digs.
Junior
Kayleigh Davis led the match with 13 kills, while sophomore
Sarah Sweet tallied her second consecutive double-figure kill effort with 10.
Sophomore
Michaila Sheedy and freshman
Alyssa Kerns registered six kills apiece, a career-high for Kerns.
The Gators finished the match with 43 team kills.
Kerns also recorded 2.5 blocks, while Sheedy finished with two. The team had seven total blocks.
From the service line, Notre Dame had 10 service aces, their fourth game this season with 10 or more. Sweet paced the team with three aces, while junior
Sara Few, Davis, and sophomore
Hannah Amodia each posted two apiece.
Few led the team in assists with 29.
Defensively, the Gators recorded 51 digs, led by junior
Mary Marquez with 14. Sweet picked up nine digs against the Gophers, followed by Few, Davis, and senior
Ricelle Taganas with eight each.
Notre Dame and Goucher traded points through the first match seeing the score tied at 23. After capitalizing on a kill, the Gophers when back to the service line holding game point.
A clutch service error helped tie the score at 24 apiece with freshman
Emma Jordan on the service line. Back-to-back attack errors by the Gopher sealed the first set victory, 26-24.
After dropping the second set 18-25, the Gators took control of the match securing the third and fourth set, 25-20 and 25-18.

Notre Dame will see two days off before traveling to Christendom College on Saturday for a trimatch where they will also face Penn State Fayette.
