BALTIMORE, Md. – Notre Dame hosted Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent, Cedar Crest College Saturday afternoon. The Gators pushed into first place in the CSAC after posting a 3-0 (26-24, 25-19, 25-13) victory over Falcons.
Sophomore
Alyssa Kerns paced the team in kills with 15, while hitting .414. Senior
Kayleigh Davis was right behind her with nine kills, while sophomore
Michaila Sheedy and senior
Sara Few added seven and six, respectively.
For the ninth time this season, the team finished with over 40 kills for the match. Their 44 kills is the team's best kill performance in a three set match.
The Gators were also dominant from the service line, posting 10 aces. Few led the team with five aces, followed by senior
Mary Marquez with two. Few also led the team with 34 assists.
Defensively, NDMU finished the match with 50 digs. Freshman
Ivanella Figueroa and Marquez paced the team combining for 23 digs. Davis added nine digs, while sophomore
Angel Carino finished with eight. They also finished the match with five blocks.
Prior to the start of the match, seniors Davis, Few, and Marquez were honored.
Notre Dame posted their 20
th win of the season today. This is the program's third consecutive season hitting the 20-win mark.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Gators are headed into the last week of the regular season next week. On Tuesday, the host Washington Adventist University in their last regular season home game. They will then travel to Centenary University for a trimatch to close out the season on Saturday. A first place finish in the CSAC regular season would mean a first round bye in the playoffs.
