BALTIMORE, Md. – Notre Dame soccer advances to 2-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference after posting a 1-0 decision over the Wilson College Phoenix. In well fought game, the Gators came out on top and now sit in fourth in the CSAC.
In the competitive game against the Phoenix, both teams saw several opportunities to score, but NDMU capitalized in the first half on a foul call on Wilson.
In just under the 30-minute mark, senior
Hannah Woodworth served up a ball off a free kick to the box and was headed into the goal by senior
Colette Pierce. Pierce continues to lead the team in goals this season, posting her eighth in today's game. Woodworth tallied her first assist of the season.
Both team's nearly went shot for shot in the game. The Gators outshot the Phoenix, 14-9. Six different Gators registered shots against Wilson, led by sophomore
Julie Hagis with four.
Freshman goalie,
Myla Young, tallied seven saves and continues to lead the CSAC in saves per game and shutouts so far this season.
WHAT'S NEXT?
On Saturday, NDMU is on the road, heading to College of St. Elizabeth for their first conference meeting. Game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
