HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Notre Dame volleyball closed out their regular season on the road Saturday in a trimatch hosted by Centenary University. The Gators down the Cyclones in straight sets 3-0 (25-12, 25-9, 25-12) to secure their second consecutive Colonial States Athletic Conference first place ranking. NDMU also defeated York College of New York 3-0 (25-6, 25-12, 25-11).
MATCH 1
Three players posted double-digit kills against the Cyclones. Senior
Kayleigh Davis led the pack with 12, while sophomore
Alyssa Kerns added 11 and junior
Michaila Sheedy finished with 10.
Junior
Anna Gamble led the team in hitting percentage with .667, her best hitting percentage this season. She had four kills on six attempts
Senior
Sara Few paced the team with 22 assists, while freshman
Cara McLaughlin added 11.
The Gators finished the match with 15 aces, led by freshman
Ivanella Figueroa with 11. She also led the team in digs with nine, while the team finished with 29. Davis and sophomore
Angel Carino combined for 12 digs.
MATCH 2
In their 3-0 victory over York (N.Y.), Kerns paced the team with 10 kills and Davis was close behind with seven.
Freshman
Gabbi Taganas posted a career high, finishing the match with five kills. Sheedy and Few combined for eight kills.
From the service line, the Gators posted 17 aces, led by Figueroa with seven. Junior
Hannah Amodia and Few each finished the match with four aces.
Defensively, Notre Dame posted 30 digs, led by Figueroa with eight. Davis added five. The team had one solo block and four assists.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Gators are in the CSAC postseason after clinching the number one seed for the second consecutive season. The first seed guarantees home court advantage and a first round bye. They will host the winner of the first round on Thursday, November 7.
