BALTIMORE, Md. – The Gators close out 2019 in the win column after defeating Penn State York, 83-51. The basketball program gives Notre Dame both the first and last wins of 2019, defeating Cairn University on January 5 and now PSU York on December 21.
Freshman
Ayana Brim paced the team in scoring, posting a career high, 22. She went 8-for-14 from the floor, while also leading the team on the boards with nine rebounds. This is now her seventh game posting double digit scoring.
Following close behind, freshman
Ariana Alleyne finished with a double-double, tallying 18 points and 14 assists. Her 14 assists against the Nittany Lions are a career and team season high, which is also good for third in the NDMU record books for assists in a game. Alleyne went 7-for-10 from the floor and 4-for-6 from the free throw line.
Junior
Adrianna Fletcher and sophomore
Daija Fitchett both posted 12 points in the win, with Fletcher posting all her points from three-point range. Fitchett added eight rebounds, while Fletcher finished with three steals.
As a team, the Gators had their best performance from the floor, tallying 33 made field goals. Defensively, they tallied 16 steals for the third time this season.
At halftime, Notre Dame honored Dr. Kelly Stephenson Barth, a 2019 NDMU Athletics Hall of Fame Inductee. A 1997 graduate of Notre Dame, Kelly was an avid competitor for both the soccer and basketball programs.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Gators will now see significant time off from action for the holiday break. When they return in 2020, they will continue their Colonial States Athletic Conference play on the road at Cairn University on January 4.
