Morales Reaches 200 Career Goals in 19-8 Victory

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Notre Dame lacrosse team got in the win column Wednesday afternoon, scoring a commanding, 19-8 victory over Chatham University.  The Gators jumped out to a lead and did not look back, notching their first win of the season over the Cougars.

NDMU scored the opening seven goals of the game.  Senior Megan Morales got the team going early, scoring her first of the game with less than three minutes into the game.  That Gators blanked the Cougars in the opening 22 minutes of play, going on a 7-0 run.

With seven minutes left in the first half, Chatham got on the board.  The Cougars outscored the Gators in the final eight minutes of the half, 4-2.

NDMU went into halftime with a 9-4 lead.

In the second half, the Gators did not let up, outscoring Chatham, 10-4.

Six different players scored in the win, led by Morales with nine.

Hagis notched a career high, finishing with would goals, followed by senior Kirstin McGee with three.  Freshman Stephanie Morgan, Vanessa Dunn, and Katie Hawkins posted one goal apiece.
McGee continues her league-leading assists, finishing with four, while Morales and Hagis added one each.

On the defense end, Morales paced the team with three caused turnovers.  Hagis and junior Loren Pardoe each finished with two.

Sophomore Calenna Cauley, in her first career game in for the Gators, scored the goalie win.  She posted 10 saves in her career debut.

In the team's final goal of the game, Morales notched her 200th career goal.  To start her senior season, she was 20 goals away from the 200 milestone.  Prior to this season, Morales averaged 60 goals per season and has scored in every game she has played.  She will leave her legacy in the NDMU record books.
