Morales and Salas Named CSAC Players of the Week

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Notre Dame lacrosse team nabbed two Colonial States Athletic Conference honors this week – earning both CSAC Player of the Week and CSAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition.  This is the fifth time this season that Notre Dame has earned both the CSAC Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week honor in the same week. The 2018 volleyball team earned both honors twice, basketball on one occasion, and one time over two different sports.

Senior Megan Morales for the second week in a row, earned CSAC recognition, being named CSAC Player of the Week.  Last week, she was named to the CSAC Honor Roll.  This is her sixth career honor, earning Player of the Week honors on two previous occasions.

Morales helped lead the Gators to a 2-0 week.  She finished the week with 17 goals and one assist.  She also lead the team in draw controls with 15 and caused turnovers with five.  On Wednesday against Chatham, Morales notched her 200th career goal.  Morales currently leads the CSAC in goals per game (7.00) and is second in draw controls per game right behind her teammate, Kirsten McGee.

Sophomore Marie Salas was named CSAC Defensive Player of the Week, her this time in her career earning this honor. 

In her first recognition of the season, Salas helped hold off Lancaster Bible, notching a win in the Gators' 16-9 victory.  Her teammate Calenna Cauley notched the win against Chatham, while Salas saw limited minutes in the second half.  She finished the week with 16 saves and a .615 save percentage.  She currently leads the CSAC in save percentage (.579) and is second in saves per game (15.50).

NDMU lacrosse has the week off from play and then will open their Colonial States Athletic Conference schedule on Saturday at home versus Centenary University.
