Soccer Drops First Game

BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Gators faced their first challenge early in the game when a Ft. Kent player broke through the defense and put the Bengals on the board quickly with a great shot to the back of the net.

Four minutes later another goal was added in the seventh minute to double the Bengals lead.

After giving up their first two goals of the season the Gators strengthened up their defense and slowed down the attack from Ft. Kent.

The Gators had a great scoring opportunity on a drive by freshman Sara Morales. After beating two defenders she pushed through the outside to get to the goal. After a shot on goal and a save by the keeper, Notre Dame couldn't convert on the corner kick.

The Gators added three more shots in the first half with no avail to score. In the 34th minute the Bengals added back to back goals within the minute and ended the half at 4-0.

Composed going into the second half the Gators reset to their game plan and slowed the attack of Ft. Kent. Strong efforts by senior Hannah Woodworth and sophomore Andreina Franco-Ramos kept the score at 4-0.

In the 81st minute the Bengals added their final goal of the game.

Morales was tied for the lead in shots for the day with seniors Loren Pardoe and Colette Pierce. Sophomore Julie Hagis added a shot of her own as well.
