BALTIMORE, Md. – Notre Dame volleyball returned home after an extended road series. The Gators hosted their lone trimatch of the season, facing Medgar Evers College and University of Valley Forge.
MATCH 1
The Gators hosted Medgar Evers in their first match of the day. Notre Dame recorded a strong victory in straight sets 3-0 (25-4, 25-6, 25-9).
Sophomore
Alyssa Kerns and senior
Mary Marquez led the team in kills as Kerns finished the match with nine and Marquez added five.
Defensively, Marquez and sophomore
Stephanie Morgan paced the team with four digs each, while junior
Michaila Sheedy added one block.
The Gators were dominating from the service line, finishing the match with 18 aces. Junior
Hannah Amodia led the team with five, while sophomore
Emma Jordan added three. Eight different players tallied an ace.
Senior
Sara Few and freshman
Cara McLaughlin combined for 25 assists in the win.
MATCH 2
NDMU defeated Valley Forge 3-0 (25-6, 25-10, 25-9) in their final match of the day. The Gators continue their win-streak increasing it to seven wins and now have 12 for the season.
Kerns and Sheedy led the team with nine kills apiece. The Gators held the Patriots to single digits two sets, while finishing the match with 34 team kills.
Senior
Kayleigh Davis added eight kills in the win.
From the service line, the Gators finished with 22 aces, led by Few
with seven. She also posted 41 assists on the day. Davis and freshman
Ivanella Figueroa combined for nine aces.
Figueroa paced the defense with 14 digs, followed by Marquez with eight.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Gators kick off the Colonial States Athletic Conference schedule next week. They will first travel to Wilson College on Thursday, before returning home on Saturday against St. Elizabeth.
