BALTIMORE, Md. – In their home opener of the New Year, the Notre Dame basketball team opened with their sixth consecutive victory of the season. A strong game advances the Gators to 5-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference after their 84-64 win over Rosemont College.
In the team victory for Notre Dame, every player made contributions in the game, including all finishing with at least five points in the win. Leading the Gators in scoring was freshman
Ayana Brim, who finished just a basket shy of her career-high, posting 20 points. She was one rebound shy of a double-double, while also going 10-for-12 from the free throw line.
Posting her fifth double-double of the season, sophomore
Daija Fitchett tallied 10 points and 16 rebounds. She paced the Gators on the boards for her sixth game this season with 10 or more rebounds. Defensively, Fitchett also recorded four steals and three blocks.
For the seventh consecutive game, freshman
Ariana Alleyne finished in double-figure scoring, posting 14. The Gators notched a season-high 20 steals, with Alleyne leading the way with eight.
The team's 84 points against the Ravens is their second best scoring performance of the season. Last season, they had four games with 80+ points, while this season they have two with more than half the season remaining.
Notre Dame will face Rosemont again next month on the road on February 5, 2020. The Gators are now 8-3 overall and undefeated in the conference. They are still tied with conference opponents St. Elizabeth and Keystone at 5-0.
