SAAC Hosts Third Annual Bingo Night

Baltimore, Md. – On Wednesday, December 2 the Notre Dame of Maryland University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted their third annual bingo event. Each year, the SAAC chooses an organization to raise money for. In 2018, the Gators raised money for the American Cancer Society, and in 2019, they raised money for the American Heart Association. This year, the Gators chose the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, in honor of a current Gators family member.

Holding 7 rounds of bingo, the SAAC provided prizes at the end of each round. Throughout the event, participants were encouraged to make donations to the society. Treasurer of the SAAC, senior Hannah Campbell, is astounded at the support and donations that were made. "We are excited to be donating $500 to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society from the funds raised." She explains, "In the spirit of the Notre Dame mission to engage in service to others, we are thankful that we can help fund future advancements in the treatment of these relentless diseases. This year we are excited to announce that we doubled our donation amount from last year through the generosity of those in the Notre Dame community! Once again thank you for all your support!"

Not only is bingo night an amazing way to raise money for an important cause, but it's also a great time for student-athletes, families, friends, and administration to come together and have a great time. SAAC President, senior Hannah Amodia shares what bingo night means to her, "Bingo Night is something we look forward to every year before finals start. Since this year was different, we adjusted with the times and made our most awaited event virtual!" The event had well over 50 participants, who were eager to play bingo and support an amazing cause.

"We had a great turnout and raised money for a good cause! The goal is always to make bingo night bigger every year and it was amazing to see people come out and support our SAAC" shares Amodia. The SAAC is already eagerly awaiting next year's event and looks forward to raising money for another great cause.

With bingo night wrapping up SAAC's fall semester events, we are excited to announce the winners of the sweatpants! Each year, SAAC has kept "points" to keep track of student-athlete participation for SAAC's events. Typically, the winning team will receive a pizza party or movie night sponsored by SAAC. With this semester being virtual, SAAC decided to award the winning team with a pair of custom NDMU SAAC sweatpants. SAAC is thankful for all student-athletes, as well as all other participants for making this year so successful. SAAC is excited to announce that volleyball won the sweatpants and will be receiving them soon. Congratulations volleyball!
