Notre Dame Athletics announces new hires for 2026-27 academic year

BALTIMORE, Md. – Notre Dame of Maryland University Director of Athletics and Wellness Dr. Ashley Wagner has announced several staff additions for the upcoming academic year.

Samantha Whiting has been elevated to Associate Director of Athletics for Student-Athlete Welfare and Athletics Advancement. She will also serve as the department's Senior Woman Administrator (SWA). Whiting, a standout student-athlete for the Gators and former softball coach, oversees student-athlete programming focused on leadership development and academics. She also coordinates athletic fundraising with Institutional Advancement. 

Nick Rackley will take over as Director of Athletic Communications. Rackley comes to Charles Street after serving as Director of Athletic Communications at Angelo State for the past two seasons. Previously, he served as Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Angelo State from August 2021 to August 2024. 

Nathan Rauscher has been elevated to full-time status and remains the head women's soccer coach. Hired in 2023, Rauscher is entering his fourth season as the Gators' coach. Last season, the Gators reached the United East playoffs and advanced to the quarterfinals.

Billy Wilkens just completed his first full season as softball coach after having the interim tag removed during preseason. In his first full season as head coach, he led the Gators to the United East playoffs with a 6-9 mark in the conference.
