Lacrosse Picked Second in CSAC Preseason Poll

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference announced the 2019 Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll.  The Notre Dame Gators were picked to finished second in the pool of six teams.
 
After winning the CSAC Championship in 2019 for the first time in CSAC history, the Gators earned two first place votes and 30 total points, sitting right behind Keystone College with 33 points.  The 2018 season was the first year since 2009 to hold second place preseason poll. 

The Gators return with core members of their 2019 squad including: seniors Loren Pardoe (Second Team All-CSAC) and Hannah Woodworth (CSAC All-Sportsmanship). Also returning from the Championship team with honors is junior Marie Salas (Second Team All-CSAC) and Sophomore Julie Hagis (CSAC Rookie of the Year, First Team All CSAC).  
 
Hagis finished the 2019 season earning one of CSAC's top honors, being named the CSAC Rookie of the Year. Hagis was one of the team's top scorers last season, as she was one of three players with 40 goals or more for the Gators.  In the CSAC, she finished fifth in assists per game, and sixth for points and shots per game.  She was second overall for NDMU in assists per game. Hagis was also named to the First Team All-CSAC in her first season with the team.
 
Salas finished her second season in goal for the Gators being named to the Second Team All-CSAC.  This was the second postseason recognition in her career, being named to the CSAC Second Team in her rookie season. Salas finished the season first in the CSAC in save percentage at .619 and second in her goals against average.
 
Woodworth earned her first postseason recognition in 2019 and was named the team's CSAC All-Sportsmanship honoree. In her rookie season with the team, Woodworth was fifth for the Gators for caused turnovers and finished her starting season with 29 groundballs.
 
Pardoe was named to the Second Team- All-CSAC in the 2019 season, which was the first in her career. As a defensive midfielder she finished third in the CSAC for caused turnovers. Last season she also earned nine goals and a solid 36 groundballs.


Notre Dame opens their 2019 season on March 4th as they travel to Lancaster Bible.  Saturday, March 7ththe Gators will host Bryn Mawr for their first home game of 2020. With only six CSAC women's lacrosse teams, the Gators will face each conference team twice, once at home and one on the road. They will face tough competition as they defend their CSAC Championship title this 2020 season.
