LANCASTER, Pa. – The Notre Dame Gators Lacrosse team traveled to Lancaster Pennsylvania to challenge the Chargers in their first game of the regular season on Wednesday. The game started off challenging for the Gators after the Chargers scored first within the first four minutes. However, the lead didn't last for long as the Gators came back from behind to tie up the game. After this initial goal, the Chargers were no match for the high scoring Notre Dame as they ended at the half dominating over Lancaster Bible 13-3. The Gators maintained the spread well throughout the entire second half and ended the game winning 19-7. Lancaster Bible scored four times in the second half and the Gators scored six times. The Gators held strong on draw controls earning 20 and additionally caused 10 turnovers.
Freshman
Sara Morales was the leading scorer for the Gators scoring seven total points. She additionally earned 14 of the 20 draw controls.
Sophomore
Julie Hagis was not far behind in points scoring six goals for NDMU. Sophomore
Kelsey Campbell posted four goals for the Gators shooting at eighty percent.
Junior Goalkeeper
Marie Salas made five saves of the twelve shots on goal. The defensive end finished the game with one hundred percent in clears going an impressive 9-for-9.
With this victory, the Gators are 1-0 overall setting the tone for the rest of the season.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Gators will play at home this upcoming Saturday at 1:00 p.m. against Bryn Mawr College. This is their first home game of the season. Next Saturday, March 14
th, the 2019 Colonial States Athletic Conference Championship team will be honored in a Ring Ceremony before playing Eastern Mennonite at 12:30 p.m.
