BALTIMORE, Md. – Welcome Gators! As we continue to navigate through this tough and challenging global pandemic, the safety and health of the NDMU Community is our top priority. Transitioning to remote learning will be a different experience for all of us, yet we are excited to support this journey together. We wish each of you the best of luck this semester and are here to remind our student-athletes that although we are not together in person, we're still here to support you through your college experience.
The athletic department will remain engaged through social media, Zoom, and livestream. Next week on Instagram, we will feature our first of many "Guess Who?" games. Through social media, fans will have the opportunity to guess which Gator is featured or associated with the image posted. Stay tuned for more details next week. Although fall sports will not be in competition this season, we wanted to give fans the chance to meet the teams. Each week throughout September, we will be introducing our fall teams, and all of their members on social media. Be sure to follow the Notre Dame Gators on all their platforms listed below.
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has been keeping busy this summer. They recently elected a new executive board for the 2020-21 school year. The executive board is as follows: President
Hannah Amodia (Sr.), Vice President
Sara Morales (So.), Treasurer
Hannah Campbell (Sr.), Secretary
Angel Carino (Jr.), and Social Media Specialist
Jaime Ballard (So.). New to the executive board this year is the Social Media Specialist position. This position will aid the committee in keeping the social media updated, and accessible. During a time when the majority of our communication is virtually, the SAAC felt that adding this position would be extremely beneficial. The SAAC is a committee that is composed of two representatives from each of our nine sports at NDMU. These members serve as the voices and representation for their teams. SAAC is a great way to be involved in athletics, and we encourage you to participate in as many ways as you can, and you can become a member, by simply attending our virtual meetings. The SAAC will be hosting virtual hangouts for all student-athletes to be able to stay connected and involved virtually.
Being remote for the fall semester will come with challenges for our NDMU community, but ones that we are excited to take on together. "I'm excited about the start of a new academic year," Director of Athletics and Wellness, Renee Bostic shares. "This fall semester is going to be unique. We are going to be innovative in our approach to athletics to ensure that everyone is healthy and safe."
Although we are virtual, you can stay connected with us through our various social media platforms, as well as our website. You can also email athletics with any questions you may have about this new journey. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for new virtual programing to keep our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, parents and fans up-to-date and engaged with our Gators throughout the semester. Best of luck this semester Gators!
