Epps Takes Gold in 100-Meters. Gators Place Fifth at CSAC Track Championship

LA PLUME, Pa. – The 2021 Colonial States Athletic Conference Track Championships were hosted by Keystone College. The three women on the Gators track team accounted for 30 points across four events in the conference finals, finishing in fifth place.

Women's 3,000-meter steeplechase

Hannah Campbell: 17:01.39

Campbell brings home the silver in the event, but continues to update Notre Dame's record books, eclipsing her own school record once again. Two weeks ago, at the Goucher Classic, she broke her own school record in the 3,000M steeplechase with a time of 17:22.69. Today, the senior finished 21.3 seconds faster. Campbell also ran this race in the 2019 CSAC Championships, finishing in eighth place with a time of 19:21.11. This marked the fifth time she ran in this event, and each time was faster than the time before.

Women's 100-meter

Taylor Epps: 13.50
Roselynn Kamara: 14.14

Women's 200-meter

Taylor Epps: 28.61
Roselynn Kamara: 29.29

Taylor Epps captured gold in the women's 100-meter sprint. She beat out second place by .18 seconds to earn the 10 points for the team. It's the junior's first career win in any finals race. She placed first in the preliminary heat of the women's 200-meters in the 2019 CSAC Championships. Epps is also the school record holder in the event at 12.96 seconds that was good enough for second in the 2019 CSAC Championships.

Roselynn Kamara came in fourth in the 100-meters, scoring four points for the Gators. For the freshman it is her second career meet, and an improvement on the 10th place finish in the 100-meters at the Goucher Classic.

Epps is also the school record holder in the 200-meter, posting a mark or 27.22 at the 2019 Blue Jay Tune-Up event. She came up short of that mark in today's 200-meter at 28.61, which was still good enough for the bronze and six points.

Kamara picked up two more points for the Gators, placing fifth in the 200-meters out of 13 runners. In both the 100, and 200-meter events today, Kamara ran incrementally faster than her debut races two weeks ago in the Goucher Classic.

Women's 5000-meter

Hannah Campbell: 27:43.94

In the Gators first ever showing in this event, and in the final event they would compete in on the day, Hannah Campbell placed seventh in the 5K. For the Senior, it would be her 30th and final race for Notre Dame of Maryland. She ran track, and cross country, earning three top-five finishes along the way.
