BALTIMORE – The Notre Dame (Md.) volleyball team (5-7) scored its fifth win of the season in a five-set thriller against host Gwynedd Mercy University (4-8) on Saturday evening 3-2 (25-17, 25-22, 18-25, 16-25, 15-10). The Gators picked up their third win in seven days with the victory. NDMU dropped the first of two matches on the evening 0-3 (7-25, 16-25, 16-25) to Arcadia University (10-6).
OF NOTE - Arcadia University
- Notre Dame struggled to put away kills for points and was held to just 18 set assists. The Knights posted 31.
- Emma Mueller and Gabbi Taganas led the Gators with five kills a piece.
- The meeting between the two programs on Saturday afternoon was the first-ever match-up on the court.
- Angel Carino led the way for NDMU's defense with 16 digs. She has 178 and holds the team lead after 12 matches played.
OF NOTE - Gwynedd Mercy University
- Notre Dame moved to 8-0 all-time against the Griffins dating back to the 2012 season.
- Five Gators eclipsed six kills in the win. The Gators offensive attack was led by Taganas 11 kills.
- Senior Anna Gamble had her most impressive outing this year for Notre Dame. She posted 10 kills with teammate Jade Stewart adding nine with Paulina Hernandez and Ciarra Bockstie adding six each.
- Mueller surpassed her season-high with 22 set assists in the win. The freshman leads the Gators with 144 assists this year.
- Natalie Newton compelled 18 assists to push her season total to 126.
- On the defensive end, Taganas accounted for sox blocks.
- Four Gators went over 20 digs in the win led by Stewart's 27.
