BALTIMORE –
Rosemary O'Brien (12) and
Gabbi Taganas (10) both reached double figures in kills, while
Ciarra Bockstie totaled seven kills, five blocks and a pair of aces as Notre Dame of Maryland University volleyball extended its winning streak to nine with a 3-1 victory over Albright on Thursday. Set scores were 25-15, 18-25, 25-15, 25-19.
Emma Mueller added nine kills, 21 assists, and three aces,
Jade Stewart had nine kills and four aces, and
Paulina Hernandez supplied 21 digs for the Gators (11-6), who improved to 8-3 at MBK Sports Complex. Mueller had the clinching points in both the third and fourth sets for the home side.
NDMU finished the night with a 10-3 advantage in aces, reaching double digits in that category for a 10th straight match. The Gators also set a new season high with 48 assists, led by a season-best individual effort of 24 assists from
Natalie Newton.
O'Brien (.333), Taganas (.304) and Bockstie (.353) all had attack percentages over 30 percent, and NDMU hit .188 overall as a team. O'Brien's 12 kills matched a season high, while Taganas totaled 10+ kills for a fourth time on the year.
Rachel Etim led Albright (10-9) with 13 kills in the defeat.
The Gators return to Colonial States Athletic Conference play this weekend, traveling to Bryn Athyn for a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday.
