BALTIMORE –
Rosemary O'Brien finished with a team-high 10 kills, while
Paulina Hernandez added 12 digs and four aces for Notre Dame of Maryland University in a 3-0 sweep of Wilson College on Wednesday. Set scores were 25-13, 25-9, 25-20.
Ciarra Bockstie supplied four kills and two blocks, and
Mackenzie Snodgrass fired in three aces for the Gators (13-6, 6-0 CSAC), who increased their winning streak to 11 matches while maintaining their first-place position in the Colonial State Athletic Conference standings. NDMU is in the midst of its fifth winning streak of 10+ matches during the last five seasons.
O'Brien's 10 kills were backed by a strong .435 attack percentage, her second-highest in a match this fall. Hernandez recorded 4+ aces for a sixth time on the year; she is ranked fourth in the CSAC in aces per set (0.81) and second in digs per set (4.45).
Natalie Newton added 15 assists and seven digs in the victory, while
Jade Stewart and
Gabbi Taganas contributed five kills apiece. NDMU's defense limited the Phoenix (3-18, 3-3 CSAC) to a team attack percentage of -.074 in the victory.
The Gators have two big CSAC matchups upcoming on the schedule, beginning with a trip to third-place Rosemont (7-10, 4-1 CSAC) at 12 p.m. on Saturday. NDMU will then host second-place Cedar Crest (8-8, 5-1 CSAC) at 7 p.m. next Wednesday.
