BALTIMORE –
Gabbi Taganas finished with a match-high 10 kills, and
Rosemary O'Brien supplied seven kills, six digs and a pair of aces for Notre Dame of Maryland University during a 3-0 sweep over Valley Forge on Wednesday night. Set scores were 25-10, 25-15, 25-11.
Natalie Newton (5) and
Candace Forgach-Aguilar (4) combined to post nine aces for the Gators (8-6, 2-0 CSAC), who have swept their opponent in six-consecutive matches. Newton also added a team-high nine assists, while Forgach-Aguilar matched O'Brien with six digs. NDMU is now 6-3 overall at MBK Sports Complex on the year.
Taganas reached double digit kills for a third time this fall, and she did so with a season-best .643 attack percentage. The Gators hit .234 as a team, including an impressive .381 percentage in the opening set.
NDMU finished the contest with a 15-3 edge in aces, and the program's 3.55 aces per set are tops in the CSAC.
Paulina Hernandez followed Newton and Forgach-Aguilar with three aces, and she also registered five digs defensively.
Miasia Ferrer had a team-best two blocks in the victory.
The Gators remain in Baltimore for their next matchup, as they host Keystone at 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
