Hoops Mount Late Comeback at Wilson to Cement a Top Three Finish in CSAC

BALTIMORE, MD – The Notre Dame of Maryland basketball team (11-9, 11-5 CSAC) scored 24 points in the fourth for its second straight win against Wilson College (10-11, 9-7 CSAC). Notre Dame forced 23 turnovers on 15 steals to pull the late come from behind win. 


HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Ayana Brim started the contest 2-of-2, scoring the Gators first five points. Her paint mate Daija Fitchett scored the next six points to keep things even at 11-11. Fitchett finished the quarter with eight points. 
  • Down 15-16 to start the second quarter, Alexis Durham handed Notre Dame its only lead in the first half. Wilson went up 28-23 but Fitchett and co stayed on the Phoenix heels with Wilson hanging on to a one-point lead going into the half. 
  • The Gators front-court combined for 24 of the 30 points scored in the first. Amya Durham and Alexis Durham were credited with three assists in the half. 
  • In the second half Amya Durham scored all 11 of her points to keep her team in the game. 
  • The Gators role players came up huge in the second led by Curry and Gardner.
  • With the Phoenix taking a 53-46 into the fourth, Jasmine Gardner started to chop into Wilson's lead with the effort on the defensive and offensive end to cut the lead down to five. 
  • Amya Durham forced another Phoenix turnover and went on to score seven straight points for Notre Dame to tie the game at 61-61
  • With a shot at a top-three seed on the line between the two teams with two minutes left in regulation Curry got loose and drained a long triple to give the Gators the late lead.
  • Alexis Durham went 6-for-6 from the line to seal the win for the Gators. 

OF NOTE
  • The Gators shot 42 percent from the floor and outscored Wilson in the paint 38-26. 
  • Fitchett seized her 14th multi-block game and ninth straight. She also collected her 14th double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds) of the season.
  • Notre Dame moves to 21-10 all-time against Wilson.
