BALTIMORE, MD – The Notre Dame of Maryland basketball team improves to (9-9, 9-5 CSAC) after putting an end to Clarks Summit (17-4, 13-1 CSAC) 13-game winning streak against conference opponents. Five Gators were in double figures against the top-ranked offense led by
Alexis Durham's third 25-plus scoring performance. She finished with a game-high 25 points, along with eight rebounds, and seven assists to give Notre Dame its sixth win in the last seven contests.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- NDMU started the ball game down 7-0 after three empty possessions. Elena Rodriguez came in to give the Gators their first score. Durham connected on her first three-pointer to get the offense back on schedule.
- Down 14-8 with 4:28 on the clock, Ayana Brim continued her spectacular play adding four points on back-to-back attempts, in addition to her first of seven offensive boards. Her third consecutive game with seven offensive rebounds.
- Adrianna Fletcher became Notre Dame's third all-time leading three-point shooter with two threes to cut the Defenders lead down to two.
- Durham converted an and-one opportunity to give the Gators a 21-20 lead to end the first quarter.
- In the second, Clarks Summit took a 29-23 but Rodriguez came off the bench shooting 3-for-3 before finding Amya Durham with 2:55 remaining to give Notre Dame a 35-33 lead. She went on to finish with a career-best 10 points in eight minutes of action.
- The Gators went into the second half down 41-40. Brim ignited a 18-6 run for Notre Dame off six points midway through the quarter. Daija Fitchett had nine points and the Gators exploded for 27 points on 55 percent shooting.
- Fitchett had two big-time blocks down the stretch allowing the Gators to hold off the conference's best offense.
OF NOTE
- Alexis Durham moves into the top ten on the program single-season assist list, tying Dania Taylor (2016-17) with 96 assists.
- Fletcher finished with 13 points and six rebounds. She now has 124 career triples, passing Amanda Poppleton (1999-03).
- Fitchett collected her 12th double-double of the season (16 points, 14 rebounds). She added three blocks and is only the second Gator with 100-plus career blocks.
- Brim is averaging a double-double in her last three games with 18.3 points and 10 rebounds.
- Gators move to 10-7 all-time against Clarks Summit.
