BALTIMORE, MD – The Notre Dame of Maryland basketball team (10-9, 10-5 CSAC) took down Wilson College (10-11, 9-6 CSAC) for win number 10 on the season. Four Gators scored in double figures and Notre Dame kept Wilson's offense at bay, limiting the Phoenix to 31 percent from the floor and 0-for-11 from behind the arc.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In the first quarter, both teams traded punches with Notre Dame's Daija Fitchett and Bethani Newbold providing most of the scoring for the Gators.
  • With the game even at 6-6, Newbold attacked the rim on consecutive drives, scoring six straight to get the Gators up 12-8
  • Fitchett did much of her damage in the first on 4-of-4 shooting for 10 early points.
  • Chantel Curry came into the game at the end of the first and drained a deep corner three to give NDMU a 23-16 lead into the second.
  • During the second period, Newbold continued her strong offensive showing in the first half and would end the half 3-for-3 from the floor.
  • Ayana Brim came along adding six scores and Jasmine Gardner was disruptive in five minutes of action in the second. Gardner was credited with three steals as the  Gators extended their lead to 14 points.
  • In the second half, the Gators got easy scores off second chances led by Amya Durham who had three offensive boards to go with six points.
  • Alexis Durham posted 12 points in the second half and ended the contest with her first career double-double (15 points, 10 rebounds).
  • Notre Dame led by as many as 17 and was able to sustain its double-digit lead in the fourth despite a late surge from the Phoenix.
