BALTIMORE, MD – Notre Dame of Maryland Athletics Department has announced that this year's Athletics Awards Ceremony (GESPYs) will return to the traditional in-person celebratory gathering after transitioning to a digital format amid the covid-19 shutdown. 

This year, the department will formally rename the annual athletics awards banquet the "GESPYs". The GESPYs will take form on Friday, May 6th, starting at 6 p.m., with the ceremony running from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. 

During the ceremony, each team will have the chance to award individual student-athletes with special team awards from each coaching staff. The celebration will encapsulate the accomplishments of all of Notre Dame student-athletes for their work done on the field and inside of the classroom.

The night will conclude with the celebration and announcement of the department's five major awards.

• NDMU Rookie of the Year 
• The Gator Spirit Award for Non Student-athlete who makes significant contributions to the athletics department.
• Sister Bernice Feilinger Award for Outstanding Senior Student-Athlete.  
• The Mary Laverty Funke Award for Spirit, Dedication, and Scholarship.
• Sister Patricia Mclaughlin Award for Outstanding Underclass Athlete.
