Gators Brace for Postseason Run With 20 Goal Victory in Season Finale

BALTIMORE, MD – The Notre Dame of Maryland lacrosse team (7-5, 5-1 CSAC) will clinch a home playoff game in next week's CSAC tournament after shutting the door on an 11-0 first-quarter lead to down Centenary (1-7, 0-6 CSAC) 22-2.


HOW IT HAPPENED
 
  • Brooke Siebert got the scoring going for the Gators with just under a minute of play. Jade Stewart was credited with the assist.
  • Sara Morales got in on the action with her 65th goal of the season a few moments later.
  • Sarah Generoso got in the Gator's third score before a minute of game time went by. She had two on the day and would end the regular season with 20 goals despite getting her start as the team goalkeeper in the first four games. 
  • Siebert found Morales to up NDMU lead to four. The Gators next two scores came from Stewart as she was able to stretch the lead to 6-0 on two unassisted goals. 
  • Morales grabbed hat-trick number 20 on the season on a free-position shot and added another score with 5:19 remaining to give Notre Dame an 8-0 advantage. 
  • Siebert secured her ninth hat-trick, adding two more before the end of the first period. Morales had four goals after one.
  • In the second, with the Gators up 11-0, Siebert added two scores on feeds from Stewart and Generoso. 
  • Emma Alascia scored her third goal of the season on an assist from Averee Radonovich to give NDMU a 15-0 lead. Radonovich scored a late goal to push the Gators lead to 20 scores, up 21-1 with a minute to play. 

OF NOTE
 
  • The 22 goals against the Cyclones ties for the Gators 4th best ever offensive output. NDMU also had 22 goals on April 12 at Cedar Crest. 
  • Stewart, the league leader in assists, ties the school single-season assists record at 45 total (Erin Sturgis, 2002). 
  • With 93 points on the year to this point, Morales moves to 4th on the program's all-time points list. 
  • She surpassed her sister Megan Morales (2017) for second-most draw controls in a single season with 94. 
  • At 27 caused turnovers on the season, Siebert ranks 6th in the school's record book.
  • Morales, Stewart, and Siebert will wrap up the regular season ranked second, third, and fifth respectively amongst CSAC points leaders.
