ASTON, Pa. – Neumann's Liz Purcell scored the game's only goal 14:15 into the second half, as Notre Dame of Maryland University dropped a tight 1-0 road decision on Thursday night.
Purcell's strike allowed the Knights to overcome a stellar effort in goal by Gator goalkeeper
Makaylah Reyes. She finished with 12 saves overall in the contest, a figure which is tied for the third most by a CSAC student-athlete this season.
Ten of Reyes' stops came prior to the game's lone goal, and she added an additional two saves over the final half hour to keep NDMU within striking distance down to the final whistle.
Next up for the Gators is a 1 p.m. home matchup against Marymount on Sunday afternoon. That will be the first of two-straight games at Alumnae Field, with NDMU set to host Valley Forge in its CSAC opener at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24.
