BALTIMORE – Notre Dame of Maryland University accounted for both of the Colonial States Athletic Conference weekly awards for volleyball announced on Monday, as
Emma Mueller was selected as the conference's Player of the Week while
Paulina Hernandez earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades for a third time in her collegiate career.
Alyson Geckle added CSAC Honor Roll recognition for the field hockey program after factoring in both goals for the Gators last week. She assisted on a
Jaime Ballard strike Tuesday night at Neumann, and recorded her second collegiate goal during NDMU's home opener against Ferrum on Friday.
Mueller (Irrigon, Ore./Irrigon Senior) becomes the first Gator to be named Player of the Week on offense since October 2019 after totaling 56 assists, 14 kills, 16 digs and five aces during three matches for NDMU. She posted 21 assists during a 3-0 sweep for the Gators over Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday, and she added 21 assists, 10 digs, five kills and three aces in the tri-match opener vs. Washington College, as NDMU dropped a tight five-set match vs. their Centennial Conference opponents.
Hernandez (El Paso, Texas/Perry Hall) receives her second weekly award of the 2022 season after finishing with 68 digs (6.18 digs per set) and five aces across NDMU's three matches. She registered a career high 35 digs, the most by a CSAC player this season, against Washington College. Hernandez also supplied 18 digs and three aces in the sweep over Gwynedd Mercy, and an additional 15 digs in a midweek matchup against Gallaudet. She currently leads the CSAC with 5.80 digs per set overall on the year.
The volleyball program is back at MBK Sports Complex for a 7 p.m. matchup vs. Washington Adventist on Tuesday, while field hockey hosts Southern Virginia at 4 p.m. on Friday.
