BALTIMORE– The Notre Dame of Maryland women's soccer team dropped a highly-contested match to Cedar Crest College by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
The Gators (5-7 Overall, 3-4 United East) created some early pressure with Emma Alascia finding space in the box in the fifth minute, but she could not get a shot off. Cyrah Bihler launched a shot off a free kick in the seventh minute that flew just over the cross bar. The Falcons (3-3-6 Overall, 3-0-4 United East) took the lead in the 15th minute, scoring on a counterattack. The Gators looked for an answer, with Anna Choudhary and Kathryn DeGrange each putting a shot on goal, but neither could level the score and the Gators trailed 1-0 at the half.
NDMU continued to push the Falcons looking for an equalizer. Bihler launched another dangerous shot in the 66th minute from outside the box that just went wide of the goal. Cedar Crest capitalized on the Gators press, netting a second goal in the 72nd minute to grab full control of the game. NDMU could not find a goal, eventually falling 2-0.
