La Plume, Pa. – The Notre Dame of Maryland women's soccer team rallied to earn a key United East victory over Keystone College by a score of 3-1 on Saturday, Oct. 21.
The Gators (6-7 Overall, 4-4 United East) did not get off to the start they wanted, falling behind the Giants (3-11 Overall, 2-6 United East) 1-0 in the 10th minute. NDMU had an immediate answer, earning a penalty kick just 50 seconds later. Emma Alascia stepped up to take the PK, blasting a shot into the back of the net to level the game at one. NDMU controlled the game's flow, firing multiple shots on goal and looked to take the lead in the 38th minute. Mackenzie Lookingland sent a ball into the box that Alascia redirected to the feet of Tchala Ungwa. Ungwa took a touch and blasted the ball past Keystone's goalkeeper to give the Gators a 2-1 lead. NDMU held the advantage at the half.
NDMU looked to grow their advantage in the second half, firing three shots in 10 minutes. In the 75th minute, Alascia chased down a loose ball in the box, winning it away from a defender and scoring her second goal of the game to give the Gators a commanding 3-1 lead. NDMU held on to the advantage, securing the victory.

The Gators will host Rosemont College in their regular season finale on Tuesday, Oct. 24. The kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
