BALTIMORE- The Notre Dame of Maryland men's soccer team battled Keystone College to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
The Gators (5-7-2 Overall, 3-4-1 United East) grabbed the early lead, scoring in the 21st minute. Johannes Karlsen lifted a free kick into the box. The ball bounced around finding the head of Hector Alavarez who headed the ball into the back of the net to give NDMU a 1-0 lead. The Giants (3-11-2 Overall, 3-3-2 United East) tried to respond, firing three shots, but NDMU held the lead at the break.
NDMU looked to extend their lead in the second half, with Fernando Rodriguez and Conor Sommers firing shots on goal. Keystone College leveled the score in the 86th minute, scoring to tie the game at one. The Gators could not recapture the lead, eventually earning the draw.
WHO'S NEXT?
The Gators have earned a berth in the United East Men's Soccer Championship Tournament, earning the #6 seed. NDMU will travel to face #3 seed St. Elizabeth University on Saturday Oct. 28. The kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
