Gators Earn Road Victory Over Clarks Summit

Clarks Summit, Pa.- The Notre Dame of Maryland men's soccer team picked an important road conference victory, defeating Clarks Sumit University by a score of 4-1 on Saturday, Oct. 7.

The Gators (4-5-1 Overall, 2-2 United East) started quickly, striking in the fifth minute. Tassilo Lehmkuhl streaked through the Defenders (2-7-2 Overall, 1-2-1 United East) defense, firing a shot that was deflected by the goalkeeper. With his momentum carrying him past the ball on the rebound, he managed to tap the ball over to Hector Alvarez. Alvarez crushed the loose ball into the back of the net to give NDMU the 1-0 lead.

In the ninth minute, the Gators extended their advantage. Adrian Andersen played a ball across the field to an open Lehmkuhl way outside the box. Lehmkuhl hammered a shot that flew just under the crossbar and into the back of the net. Andersen added another goal in the 42nd minute, when he dribbled past several defenders and blasted a shot to give NDMU a 3-0 lead at the break.

Clarks Summit struck first in the second half, converting a penalty kick in the 65th minute. The Gators responded five minutes later earning their own penalty kick. Lehmkuhl stepped up to take the PK and easily converted the opportunity to give the team a 4-1 advantage. The Gators locked down the Defenders attack, securing the 4-1 victory.
