BALTIMORE– The Notre Dame of Maryland women's soccer team celebrated senior day by taking down St. Elizabeth University by a score of 2-0 on Saturday, Oct. 7.
Before the game NDMU took a few minutes to honor the four senior members of the women's soccer team: Emma Alascia, April Boss, Mackenzie Lookingland and Averee Radonovich.
The Gators (4-5 Overall, 2-2 United East) stormed out of the gates, immediately putting pressure on the Eagles (4-5-1 Overall, 0-3-1 United East) defense. In the sixth minute, Chasiti Nchangnwi played a ball across the box to Anna Choudary. Choudary took a touch and hammered a shot past into the back of the net, giving NDMU the 1-0 lead. The Gators extended their advantage in the 12th minute. Tchala Ungwa knifed through the defense, and she was taken down in the box earning the Penalty Kick. Alascia stepped up to take the penalty and blasted in the conversion, giving NDMU a 2-0 lead.
NDMU continued to control the majority of the game play, but they could not find another goal despite taking 11 shots in the game. Leah Hasberry made seven key saves in goal, including two on breakaway shot opportunities to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard.
