Lancaster, Pa.- The Notre Dame (MD) women's lacrosse team could not complete a fourth quarter rally, falling to Lancaster Bible College by a score of 15-13 on Saturday Mar. 11.
Jade Stewart and
Sarah Generoso powered the comeback, with each player scoring five goals.
Emma Alascia added two more goals and
Averee Radonovich got into the mix, scoring one goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gators (0-4 Overall) got off to a good start, tying the game at one when Generoso scored her first goal of the game off an LBC foul. The Chargers (2-2 Overall) grabbed the momentum, scoring four straight goals to hold a 5-1 lead. Alascia slowed the run scoring her third goal of the season. Moments later, Generoso finished her second goal of the game, this time off a great pass from Stewart. NDMU trailed 5-3 heading into the second quarter.
Stewart started the second quarter by scoring her first goal of the game to bring the Gators back within one. LBC answered back, going on a 4-0 run to stretch their lead to five with 8:51 remaining in the second quarter. Generoso and Alascia each scored a goal before the end of the half, but NDMU still trailed by five heading into the break.
Radonovich kicked off the scoring in the second half, scoring her first goal of the season in spectacular fashion, cutting the deficit down to four. LBC scored the next two goals, pushing their advantage to six, midway through the quarter. Stewart began to swing momentum back to the Gators, closing the half by scoring two straight goals.
NDMU continued rolling with Generoso scoring again just seconds into the fourth quarter. Stewart capitalized on a free position shot to bring the Gators back within two. Alascia found a cutting Stewart for a goal, cutting the deficit down one with 9:28 remaining in the game. After LBC scored, Generoso drew a foul and converted a free position shot to make the score 14-13. The Chargers added one more goal in the closing minutes of the game, holding on for the victory.
