NDMU Cannot Keep Pace with Pilgrims

BALTIMORE- The Notre Dame (Md.) women's lacrosse team fell to New England College by a score of 19-8 on Friday, Mar. 17 at Alumni Field. 
 
The Gators' offense was powered by Sarah Generoso who scored four goals and dished an assist. Jade Stewart dished a season-high four assists and also scored a goal. Emma Alascia found the back of cage three times. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
The Gators (0-6 Overall) fell behind in the first quarter, allowing the Pilgrims (2-4 Overall) to score the first five goals of the game. Alascia got the Gators on the board, scoring off a great dish from Stewart. NDMU trailed 5-1 at the end of the first quarter. 
 
New England College scored the first two goals of the second quarter before Stewart found Generoso for her 14th goal of the season. After three more goals by the Pilgrims, Generoso struck again, scoring her second goal of the game. The Gators trailed by seven at the half. 
 
NDMU started the second half strong when Generoso found a cutting Alascia for her second goal of the game. Four minutes later, Stewart slashed through the New England College defense scoring her first goal of the game. Alascia took advantage of a free position shot, scoring to cut the deficit back down to five. The Pilgrims closed the quarter on a 3-0 run, holding a 14-6 lead heading to the final frame. 
 
The teams traded early goals with Stewart again finding Generoso for her third goal of the game. New England College scored four of the final five goals, rolling to the 19-8 victory. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Generoso was all over the field, scoring four goals, scooping up eight ground balls and winning 12 draw controls
  • Stewart recorded a goal, four assists and five draw controls
  • Alascia posted three goals and also collected three ground balls
  • Alissandra Mason made 13 saves in goal
  • The Pilgrams were led by Nathalie Antigua who scored seven goals

The Gators will return to the field on Tuesday, Mar. 21 when they host Marymount University at 4:00 PM.
