BALTIMORE- The Notre Dame (MD) women's lacrosse team dropped a high-scoring match to Thiel College by a score of 23-15 on Wednesday, Mar. 8 at Alumni Field.
Jade Stewart powered the Gators' offense, scoring nine goals on 15 shots.
Sarah Generoso found the back of the cage four times and added an assist.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tomcats (2-2 Overall) started quickly, scoring the first four goals of the game. Stewart got the Gators (0-3 Overall) on the board, scoring off a free position shot to cut the deficit down to three. After another Thiel goal, Stewart converted back-to-back free position shots, making the score 5-3 with 5:14 remaining in the first quarter. With a man advantage, Generoso converted a free position shot to keep NDMU with two. The Tomcats scored the final two goals of the quarter, and they held an 8-4 lead.
Alascia started the second quarter by scoring her first goal of the season to pull NDMU back within three. Playing short-handed, Stewart again drew a foul and converted a free position shot to make the score 8-6. Thiel ran off the next three goals, taking a five-goal lead with 5:19 to go in the half. Stewart responded with two straight free position goals keeping the Gators within striking distance. After a Tomcats goal, Generoso won the ensuing draw control, racing through the defense for an unassisted goal. NDMU scored three of the final four goals of the half with Stewart adding two more and Generoso finishing the half with a goal. The Gators trailed 15-12 at the break.
Thiel controlled play throughout the early portion of the third quarter, scoring four straight goals to take a seven-point lead. Generoso stopped the run, scoring a free position goal and Stewart followed that up with her ninth goal of the game to make the score 19-14. The Tomcats scored a goal just before the end of the quarter, holding a six-point lead heading to the final frame.
Alascia scored a goal a man down, making the score 21-15. Thiel added two more goals to make the score 23-15 as darkness was setting in. The game was called due to darkness with 12:35 remaining in fourth quarter.
