BALTIMORE– The Notre Dame of Maryland men's soccer team dropped their conference opener to defending CSAC Champions Rosemont College by a score of 5-0 on Wednesday, Sept. 27.
The Gators (2-4-1 Overall, 0-1 United East) created some early scoring opportunities with Tassilo Lehmkuhl finding space in the box in the 7th minute, but he could not put a shot on frame. NDMU's defense absorbed a ton of pressure throughout the half, but the Gators were able to turn away the Ravens. Rosemont finally got on the board in the 39th minute when a ball bounced off a NDMU defender and rolled into the back of the net, giving the Ravens a 1-0 lead. Clarence Obiajulu created one final scoring chance in the half, winning the ball just outside the box and firing a shot on goal that was saved at the last second by the Raven's goalkeeper.
The Ravens (4-4 Overall, 1-0 United East) struck four times in an 11-minute span to take control of the game. The Gators could not recapture the momentum, falling 5-0.
WHO'S NEXT?
The Gators will continue conference play when they host Bryn Athyn College on Saturday, Sept. 30. The kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
