Women's Volleyball
Langhorne- The NDMU Women's Volleyball team faced a tough loss against Cairn University in a competitive four-set match. Despite a strong effort from the Gators, Cairn claimed the victory with scores of 25-22, 25-18, 16-25, and 25-19.
The first set saw a neck-and-neck contest as NDMU fought hard to keep pace with Cairn. NDMU remained competitive throughout, but Cairn managed to edge them out in a 25-22 set. The Gators put up a strong offensive front throughout the whole four-set match with Ciarra Bockstie with 13 kills, followed by Miasia Ferrer contributing 9 kills and Gwen Abnett adding 7 to the scoreboard. Despite their efforts, NDMU couldn't overcome the steady performance of their opponents and dropped the second set 25-18.
Refusing to go down without a fight, the Gators rallied in the third set, showing grit and determination. NDMU's defense was on point for this match up, led by Paulina Hernandez with 13 digs, supported by Emma Mueller's 12. Bockstie stepped up once again, contributing both offensively and defensively with 4 blocks. NDMU's resilience paid off as they won the set 25-16, keeping the match alive.
Despite the momentum from their third-set victory, NDMU couldn't maintain the upper hand in the fourth set. Cairn regrouped and took control early, creating a lead that the Gators struggled to overcome. Notable performances throughout the match came from Natalie Newton's 24 assists and Emma Mueller's 16, but Cairn's efficient play secured them a 25-19 win in the final set, sealing the match.
Women's Soccer
Baltimore- The NDMU Women's Soccer Team faced a difficult challenge against Penn College, resulting in a 5-0 loss this past Saturday Oct. 12.
Penn College started the game out strong, launching multiple attacks that tested NDMU's defense early on. Goalkeeper Leah Hasberry was busy throughout the match, making an impressive 16 saves in total in an attempt to keep her team in the game. The Gators held up a strong defensive lineup during the first half resulting in a score of 0-0 at half.
Despite the Gator's best efforts, Penn College's relentless pressure eventually broke through, resulting in five goals in the second half of the game. Although NDMU struggled to generate offensive momentum, they managed three shots in the second half of the game, with only one on goal. Anna Choudhary registered the Gators' sole shot on goal, forcing Penn College goalkeeper Nicole Lichtinger to make her only save of the match. Other shots were made from Malaika Habib and Tchala Ungwa, both off target.
Men's Soccer
Baltimore- The NDMU Men's Soccer Team put up a valiant effort but came up short in a hard-fought 3-2 loss to Penn College.
Penn College started the match aggressively, dominating the first half with 13 shots compared to NDMU's four. The Gators' defense, anchored by goalkeeper Mateo Gularte, faced constant pressure. Gularte made two crucial saves in the first half but couldn't stop all of Penn College's advances, allowing two goals that put NDMU on the back foot.Offensively, NDMU struggled to create chances in the first 45 minutes. Three out of four shots taken in the first half were taken by Tassilo Lehmkuhl and the fourth one was taken by Athanasios Ziliaskopoulos, forcing Penn College's goalie to make a save. With no corner kicks to their name, NDMU had limited opportunities to capitalize on set pieces in the first half.
The Gators came out stronger in the second half, showing resilience as they increased their attacking pressure. Athanasios Ziliaskopoulos led the charge with the first goal of the game for the Gators within the five minutes of being on the field. Offensively NDMU challenged Penn College's defense with 7 shots on goal compared to their 4. However, Penn College drew a foul which had led to a successful penalty kick that set the Gators back. Tassilo Lehmkuhl did not let this deter him from pushing for a goal. With an assist from Carter Hafez, Lehmkuhl fired a shot within the last minute of the game bringing the final score 3-2.

The NDMU Women's Volleyball Team will match up against St. Mary's College of Maryland at home on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7:00 PM.
The NDMU Women and Men's Soccer Teams will be on the road to face St. Mary's College of Maryland for kick off times at 5:00 PM and 7:30 PM.
