Women's Volleyball
Baltimore- The NDMU Women's Volleyball Team faced a tough loss against St. Mary's College of Maryland in a competitive five-set match. Despite a strong effort for the Gators, St. Mary's claimed the victory this past Tuesday Oct. 16. The set scores were 25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 23-25, and 21-19.
The first set saw a neck-and-neck contest as NDMU fought hard to keep pace with St. Mary's College of Maryland. NDMU remained competitive throughout, but the Seahawks managed to edge them out in a 25-23 set. The Gators put up a strong offensive front throughout the whole five-set match with Ciarra Bockstie with 18 kills, followed by Emily Gordon contributing 9 kills and Emma Mueller adding 8 to the scoreboard. This helped the Gators manage a second set win 20-25 against the Seahawks.
Refusing to go down without a fight, the Gators rallied in the third set, showing grit and determination. NDMU's defense was on point for this match up, led by Paulina Hernandez with 25 digs, supported by Emma Mueller's 21 and Candace Forgach-Aguilar's 16. Bockstie stepped up once again, contributing both offensively and defensively with 3 blocks. However, NDMU's resilience did not pay off as they lost the set 25-22. Trying to fight off the Seahawks, the Gators put pressure offensively the fourth set, winning 25-23 and forcing a fifth set. Both teams refused to give up easily and the score went all the way to 21-19 in favor of the Seahwks. Notable performances throughout the match came from Shelbey Willson's 23 assists and Natalie Newton's 19 assists.
Women's Soccer
Saint Mary's City- The NDMU Women's Soccer Team faced a difficult challenge against St. Mary's College of Maryland, resulting in a 7-0 loss this past Wednesday Oct. 16.
St. Mary's College started the game out strong, launching multiple attacks that tested NDMU's defense early on. Goalkeeper Leah Hasberry was busy throughout the match, making an impressive 20 saves in total in an attempt to keep her team in the game. The NDMU's defensive team put up a strong effort, but could not hold back St. Mary's offesnive pressure. Despite the Gator's best attempts, SMCM scored four goals in the first half of the game and another three in the second half resulting in a loss for NDMU.
Men's Soccer
St. Mary's City- The NDMU Men's Soccer Team put up a valiant effort but came up short in a hard-fought 6-3 loss to St. Mary's College of Maryland on Wednesday Oct. 16.
St. Mary's College of Maryland started the match aggressively, dominating the first half with 17 shots compared to NDMU's eight. The Gators' defense, anchored by goalkeeper Mateo Gularte, faced constant pressure. Gularte made five crucial saves in the first half but couldn't stop all of SMCM's advances, allowing four goals that put NDMU on the back foot. Offensively, NDMU attacked St. Mary's defense with just as much pressure. Tassilo Lehmkul led the Gators in shots taken in the first half of the game. However, it was Athanasios Ziliaskopoulos who scored the first goal for the Gators and a second goal 15 mintues later was fired off by Adrian Andersen.
The Gators came out strong in the second half, showing resilience as they increased their attacking pressure. Athanasios Ziliaskopoulos led the charge with the first goal of the game for the Gators with an assist from Carter Hafez within seven minutes of being on the field. However, SMCM refused to let the Gators to close the gap and stayed ahead by scoring two more goals while ensuring the Gators had no offensive scoring chances, bringing the final score to 6-3.

The NDMU Women's Volleyball Team will hop back on the road to face Keystone College on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 6:00 PM.
The NDMU Women's Soccer Team will play at home for their senior day against Rosemont College on Saturday, Oct. 19. The kick off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
