Weekend Recap: Notre Dame of Maryland University Athletics 10/26

Women's Volleyball 

Baltimore- The NDMU Women's Volleyball Team faced a thrilling victory against Cedar Crest College in a competitive three-set match this past Saturday, Oct. 26. The set scores were 25-15, 25-17, and 25-16.  

NDMU opened the first set with an aggressive attack against Cedar Crest, establishing a commanding presence from the outset. The Gators sustained a formidable offensive drive throughout the match, led by Ciarra Bockstie with 9 kills, Miasia Ferrer with 7, and Gwen Abnett adding another 7 points to the scoreboard. This strong offensive performance set the tone for a dominant match. 

Equally impressive was NDMU's defense, anchored by Paulina Hernandez and Jade Stewart, who each contributed 14 digs, while Emma Mueller added 5. Natalie Newton's five aces, paired with four more from Mueller, further solidified the Gators' control. Mueller also excelled on both ends of the court, delivering 19 assists to secure NDMU's well-earned victory. 


Women's Soccer 

Allentown- The NDMU Women's Soccer Team faced a difficult challenge against Cedar Crest College, resulting in a 1-0 loss this past Saturday, Oct. 26.  

Cedar Crest College began the game with intensity, launching multiple attacks that put NDMU's defense to the test early on. Goalkeeper Leah Hasberry had a standout performance, staying vigilant throughout the match with an impressive 13 saves to keep the score at 0-0 going into halftime. In response to Cedar Crest's aggressive plays, the Gators pushed back with some determined offensive efforts. Malaika Habib led the Gators' charge, making their only shots on goal for the game. She attempted one shot wide in the first half, followed by three shots in the second half that kept Cedar Crest's goalkeeper on edge. Despite these efforts, none resulted in a goal, and the Gators ultimately fell to a narrow 1-0 loss to Cedar Crest.

The NDMU Women's Volleyball team stays home for a match up against Penn State Berks this Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 7:00 PM.
