BALTIMORE– The Notre Dame of Maryland University women's lacrosse team fell in a nonconference matchup with Immaculata University by a score of 17-4 on Saturday, Mar. 9.
It was a rough start for the Gators, as the Mighty Macs racked up 11 first quarter goals, building a huge lead. Jade Stewart scored NDMU's lone first half goal, knifing through the defense and sliding a shot into the back of the net. The Gators trailed 13-1 at the break.
NDMU gained some momentum in the third quarter when Emily Funez scored by sliding a shot past the Mighty Macs goalkeeper. Several minutes later, Stewart made a great pass to an open Cailyn Motta who rocketed a shot into the back of the net. In the fourth quarter, Funez capitalized on a free-position attempt, scoring her second goal of the game. Immaculata stopped any rally attempt, powering to a 17-4 victory.
