BALTIMORE– The Notre Dame of Maryland University women's lacrosse team could not keep pace with Goucher College, falling by a score of 19-5 on Wednesday, Mar. 13.
The Gators got off to a fast start, with Caylin Motta scoring the game's first goal. Three minutes later Jade Stewart found the back of the net, striking to make the score 2-1. Goucher used a couple of man advantage situations to score three straight points and surge ahead. With just under three minutes to play in the opening quarter, Stewart struck again, cutting NDMU's deficit down to one.
NDMU's offense went cold in the second and third quarters, failing to maintain possession and find the back of the net. Meanwhile, Goucher rattled off 14 straight goals to pull away and take command of the game. Emma Alascia scored two goals in a four-minute stretch, but the Gators could not close the gap, falling 19-5.
