BALTIMORE- The Notre Dame of Maryland University women's lacrosse team could not hold of a fourth quarter rally, falling to Cedar Crest College by a score of 8-7 on Saturday, April 13.
The Gators trailed 1-0 for most of the first quarter until Sarah Generoso found an open Cailyn Motta for her first goal. Cedar Crest scored first in the second quarter, retaking the lead. Emma Alascia leveled the score at two, scoring with 4:14 remaining in the half. Motta gave NDMU its first lead of the game scoring just before the end of the half.
NDMU stretched their advantage early in the third quarter, with Motta netting her third goal of the game off a great pass from Jade Stewart. Two minutes later, Stewart slashed to the net for a goal, making the score 5-2. The Falcons scored two straight goals to close back within one. Alascia scored her second goal of the game, taking a pass from Motta and sliding a shot passed the Falcons goalkeeper. Motta added her fourth of the game, this time from Alascia to put NDMU ahead 7-4. Cedar Crest controlled the final quarter, scoring four-straight goals to rally back and earn the 8-7 victory.
