BALTIMORE- The Notre Dame of Maryland University women's lacrosse team dropped its regular season finale, falling to Bryn Athyn College by a score of 15-4 on Saturday, Apr. 20.
The Gators struggled to find their groove throughout the first quarter, allowing the Lions to race out to a 4-0 first quarter advantage. Bryn Athyn scored the first three goals of the second quarter, pushing their advantage to seven. Jade Stewart put the Gators on the board, scoring on a free position shot to make the score 7-1. NDMU slowed the Lions offense for the remainder of the half, trailing by six at the half.
NDMU got off to a better start in the second half with Stewart finding Emily Funez for the first goal of the third quarter. After a Lions goal, Cailyn Motta collected a ground ball in the offensive end and fired a shot into the back of the goal to make the score 8-3. Bryn Athyn finished the quarter on a 4-0 run, holding a 12-3 advantage heading into the final quarter. Trailing by 11 in the fourth quarter, Stewart found Sarah Generoso for a goal. The Gators could not pull any closer, eventually falling 15-4.
